How Do You Know What to Pursue in Life? The Painting That Gave Me My Answer
Have you ever asked yourself what to pursue in life?
In a world full of endless options—where social media bombards us with different lifestyles, careers, and philosophies—it’s easy to feel lost. How do you know what’s right for you? How do you make sure you’re not missing out? How do you live a life that feels truly meaningful?
The Story Behind My Painting: A Bold Reminder to Rest
Burnout has a way of forcing you to face yourself. It strips away the distractions, the busyness, the endless to-do lists, leaving only the raw questions underneath.
What am I really doing?
Why does it never feel like enough?
I had spent years chasing a dream, but I never stopped long enough to ask myself if it was truly mine. I thought I was on the right path—building a creative career, working hard, saying yes to every opportunity. But instead of fulfillment, I found exhaustion. Instead of clarity, I felt lost.
It wasn’t until everything came to a halt that I finally had to ask myself: What is it that I truly want?
Looking at My Life—And What Shaped Me
In that stillness, I reflected on what had shaped me the most.
I thought about my grandmother—how she fought breast cancer with quiet strength, how she had stories inside her that were never told. I thought about my mother, who gave everything to her family and career until she had nothing left for herself.
These women taught me lessons that ran deeper than words: Listen to your intuition. Don’t make yourself small for others. Don’t wait.
And then it hit me—my calling was never just about making art. It was about freeing the artists who came before me. The ones who never got to create. The ones who sacrificed their own passions for survival, for duty, for others.
I realized something else, too: I have always loved writing just as much as painting. Maybe my purpose isn’t just to create art—but to tell stories. Through my paintings, my videos, my words. To help others find their own path through the stories I share.
The Painting: A Bold Reminder to Rest
That realization led me to this painting—a woman resting in the embrace of a vibrant peony flower. The colors are rich and deep, full of warmth and life: bold pinks, soft purples, grounding greens.
At first, I thought this piece would be gentle, subtle. But as I painted, it demanded more. The colors deepened. The contrast sharpened. The message became clear.
Rest is not a luxury. It is a necessity.
In a world that glorifies hustle, we are taught to equate rest with weakness. But I now see rest for what it truly is—powerful, unapologetic, revolutionary.
This painting is a reminder of that truth. A daily invitation to slow down, to listen, to be present in your own life.
Journal Prompts for Reflection
If you’re at a crossroads, if you’re questioning your path, I invite you to reflect on these questions:
What has shaped me the most in life?
What truly matters to me?
If failure wasn’t an option, what would I do?
Am I chasing something out of fear—or out of love?
